The best pizza sauce in the world! This sauce taste just like the original pizza sauce that Pizza Hut used to use. I like to make it well ahead of time and let it cool before making the pizzas. It seems to marry the flavors just right. Be sure to use good, fresh dried herbs and don't leave the lemon juice out-you'll miss it.

Preparation Time: 1 hour plus cooling time    Serving Size: (2) 8-inch pizzas

  • 1 can plain tomato sauce (usually 15 ounces)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • a dash of onion powder

Pour tomato sauce into a small saucepan. Stir in all other ingredients and heat over medium heat until it starts to bubble; stirring often. Lower heat and simmer slowly for 1 hour, stirring frequently, until just slightly thickened. Allow to cool and either use on your pizzas or refrigerate or freeze.
